Difficult to keep clean

I love the quick heating features; however, keeping the cooktop clean and shiney is very difficult. Everytime I cook, brown stains appear. I was able to remove most of them, but there are some stains I was not able to remove. This is very disappointing, considering the cost of the cook top. I was afraid to use it for several days, because of that experience. I tried multiple cleaners, but it is disappointing that I have the dark stains. Also, I am not able to use any pans that are colored at the bottom. So I had to get rid of a number of expensive pans I bought in fear of ruining the cooktop. In all realty, cooks should not have to worry about damaging their cooktops. They should be easy to keep clean and not worry about burnt stains. In addition, it would be helpful to have a cover that we could keep over it when not in use. I worry that I will accidentally crack or scratch it. The handles are also difficult to turn at times. You have to make sure to press down, then turn. I am concerned I may force it one day and break it.

Vent and knobs

This could be outstanding if they eliminate the knobs. Very hard to keep clean The downdraft fan installation book is not close to being correct for the vent location. Picture and measurements are off 11 inches. It was a nightmare to get it to work with the in wall vent piping.

Nothing but problems

We bought this from Best Buy on May 1. We had to wait 7 weeks due to back order issues. So, finally installed in late June. Within two weeks two of the knob controls could not be turned; they locked up. So, we request a replacement and again get multiple delivery delays. In the meanwhile, while turning a control knob that was working, we hear a loud pop. Then, within a few minutes the whole cooktop starts bowing and completely cracks in the middle of cooking. The stovetop then wouldn't power off so we had to turn off the circuit. Luckily no one was seriously injured in this ridiculous incident.

Downdraft sweats, causing mildew

We bought this cooktop 5 years ago. I really like it, but the downdraft pulls warm air from outside, causing moisture to build up in the bottom. We have had a problem with mildew forming in the bottom of the downdraft and on the filter.

The first unit delivered had a cosmetic problem with small area not painted. Replacement appears to be OK. Two areas of concern; we looked everywhere and used online Q&A and never got an answer as to the two different wattages on the burner that has two size circles. No one appears to know. Secondly the pictures for marketing appear to show each burner with a different shade of black so as to know where the outline of the burner is. The reality is you almost cannot tell without turning on the burner and letting it get hot/glowing.

We purchased this because we weren't ready to do major demo. Our existing cooktop is downdraft and the choices were limited. We purchased other appliances through KitcheAid so decided to go with them. We were however disappointed to see that the cooktop does not sit flush on our countertop something they could have disclosed before purchase. There is a quarter inch gap allowing food and fluids to seep through. Also the downdraft feature is very poor and unless you are using the burner closest to the vent, it's useless. My opinion this was an overpriced low quality purchase.

Air Grill Chips

I have owned this cooktop for 4 years. It cooks quickly and efficiently. The downdraft does work very well. The only problem is cosmetic. The metal air grill is constructed poorly and the paint started chipping off that first year. It was only a small chip the first year, but a huge chip just came off at year 4. And I haven't ever used harsh chemicals or rubbed the grill vigorously when I cleaned it.

We updated our cook top when installing new counters. It holds all sizes of skillets and griddles and heats quickly. The smooth top cleans easily. Only complaint is the paint on the downdraft vent was chipped in several spots.

Purchased to replace a 24 year old ge coil because we upgraded entire kitchen. This thing is so much better. Heats evenly and performs great. I was hesitant to cook on it because it looks so nice.
