I love my 5qt Artisan kitchen aid mixer. I look forward to doing a lot more baking as this is much easier and so much less time consuming than a hand held mixer. No comparison to the texture of a baked cake either! I wish I had bought it sooner!!

I even froze the wire whisk and the bowl to make french silk (my husband's favorite dessert) and this coming weekend, I'm going to dig out the meat grinder attachment, and I'm going to make my own sausage! Love this mixer. I wanted something mid-size as I already own the 7 qt. pro and the artisan mini, all in medallion silver. The 5 qt. size is perfect for larger batches of cookies and regular use. It is a solid mixer and I am really enjoying using it. Plus, it looks great on my kitchen counter! I would like to see a stainless steel whisk and a spiral dough hook rather than the "C" shaped one.

Good Looking Mixer, but Poor Quality Workmanship

After purchasing and receiving the Artisan mixer, it was quickly apparent on its first usage (cookie dough) that there was something wrong with it. The tilt head wobbles up and down significantly when mixing. After talking with Kitchenaid and being told to try adjusting the tilt head (which I did to their specifcations), the head still wobbled significantly during mixing. As best I can tell, the wobbling is coming from the tilt head pin on the unit. It is clear to me that the pin and the holes it sits in are not manufactured to a tight tolerance. Very disappointed in Kitchenaid, as I have heard nothing but good things about these mixers.
