Startup speed too fast, no help from KA cust. care

I sold my 5 quart black KitchenAid that I'd had for over a decade to upgrade to this one and give myself a fresh colour. The first batch of cookies I made with it was a disaster, my old black mixer had a very slow startup speed (and was not equipped with the slow start function) that made incorporating anything a dream. This mixer seems to go to second or third speed immediately and no matter what I do, I cannot avoid a mess. I called KitchenAid to ask if there was some kind of mistake in the speeds or a way to slow it down. I was sent to Alex in the customer care department and he told me that my old mixer would have had their slow start function and this one did not. He said to take a video of the problem and email it to them. After emailing in the video, there was no follow up from KitchenAid which was disappointing so I had to contact them myself. I was sent to Alex again and when I asked him again about the slow start feature, I told him I searched online for any of the tilt head mixers that had it and couldn't find any. I told him the old mixer I had for the second time and he said actually that mixer didn't come with it either so in all those wasted searches, I was looking for something that didn't exist. He opened my video and watched it with me on the line and his comment was completely useless: it looks like you're making something that has too many ingredients in it. I told him it was a cookie recipe that made only 30 cookies, standard, but his suggestions were still the same, lessen my ingredients because there was nothing wrong with the mixer. He was very polite but very unhelpful and I feel like I wasted my money on something pretty that doesn't function well. Bottom line I would not buy this mixer again and I wish I had my old one back.
