I am still learning how to use this microwave. My old one was new when I sent it to college with my daughter in the fall of 1985. It was smaller and about half the power. So sorry you may not believe this but it's true. This new unit works so fast I have to be careful not to set it for to long. Example my husband eats instant oatmeal almost every morning. Old took 2:30 to 3 minutes new takes 1:34minute. I love it.

Good microwave

We had a previous model that was very similar. Same size, same power rating. The old one seemed to always be stronger than 1200 watt and cook faster than any of the food directions said. This one seems to take longer to cook things (but it's on par with food directions now) but they seem cook more evenly than the previous model. The feet were uneven and it wobbled until we put little rubber stick on feet. It's very quiet in comparison.

Would be great if the door had a Handle

This was the replacement for the same model that did not last 6 months before developing a problem that could not be corrected. That problem was not related to the push button door opener. Am taking this opportunity to share my concern with microwaves with push button doors instead of handles, which seems to be the 'in thing' with manufacturers. Our previous microwave was a different brand name, but it also had to be 'slammed' to get it to work, which is why we replaced it. For 15 years we had microwave ovens with several different brand names, physical sizes and wattage in four facilities. All had door handles, could be quietly and gently closed, worked as expected and were still functioning when I left. We will continue to look for a counter top machine that has a door handle. Admittedly, our microwave use is reheating leftovers for two of us and warming water for my instant coffee. My husband would be pleased if I could just put in the time, power level, push the start button and have the warming process begin without all the DOOR signage that the microwave turns on so often. We have several other Whirlpool appliances that function well and are dependable. It is a disappointment to have the push-button door on the microwave that makes it not user-friendly in our home. Thank you for allowing me to share my concern with this feature.

A nice replacement

After 18 years of faithful service our old Whirlpool microwave started making noises and the turntable became very jerky. We wanted another one just like the old one and found this one which was an updated version (including price) of the one we had. We didn't have to relearn how to use it because it had the same features as the old one.
